The middle one is my favorite. I like the look on her face. Beautiful colors, too.

The second face on the tree is interesting. What does it represent, if anything?

Hi Brendan - thanks for the compliments. The face on the tree was my imagination toying with what a Tree of Knowlegde might look like. I thought it should be distinguished by something a little more symbolic than fruit alone. :-)

Hi Belinda,

Wow, how quick is "quick"? I remember when I first saw this earlier Eve etching (Sure Temptation) and I've always really liked it. Nice to hear how it came about.

My response:

You know, I was gonna guess something like that, regarding the face on the tree. One thinks that the Tree of Knowledge should be personified, and not just be a piece of swag that could be used to tempt Eve. Nice, B.

Speaking of the entity that does the tempting: It has been noted many times that the entity that lures Eve, in the original telling of the myth, is not a snake, but is merely specified as a "serpent."

Perhaps a challenge to present an alternate portrayal of the serpent could be the seed for a new painting.

I'm thinking of caricatured Republicans, of course, but that's just me, and I can't draw for beans.

But if I could . . .

Belinda -- The Eve series is really fascinating! I love how the apple is so large in the latest one ... like it has increased in significance or something (?)

I love the face (or mask?) at the tree. In a way it makes the tree to be part of the game too - so it's not only a question of good-evil but circumstances, the world around too. I think it's right.

Thankyou for quickstarting my braincells today!

Hi Belinda! Another masterpiece! Love the detail work on the apple, and it's leaf. I marvel at how you can create such wonderful faces in such a small space! Very interesting story about how "Eve" came into your art!

Wow, I love the eve’s fruit – the innocence and the temptation, what a perfect choice of opposites. It is really a treat to see “in progress” and finished – lovely layers!
