I've been playing with watercolor on hot pressed Arches paper, especially with regard to painting facial structure & flesh tones by lifting and blending over multiple layers of color. I took this trio of faces to the Boddy House Gallery in case I felt like goofing off, instead of painting something more "serious" during the exhibit.
I got about this far (below) when I met a sharp little man named JFC -T (age 8). He was curious about where I was going with this painting, so I told him I'd work on it till his next visit to see what he thought of my progress, and he could give me a title.
He came back once more before the close of the exhibit, and watched me paint a bird tucked into leaves around the head of one of the figures. His busy school and sports schedule prohibited a third visit to see the final piece, but being a man of his word, he sent a title along yesterday, which fits quite nicely. I'm posting it here so he can see the finished work.

Hello
I just wanted to say what a wonderful educational creative blog you have. I've been reading it for the past few weeks. My 10 year old daughter will be reading through your blog as she is home schooled. It is fascinating to see how your paintings are made, step by step, in this way. Jude will love to see that and she may try to create some images of her own. Anyway, hello from Ireland, and keep up the good work :)

Very exotic Belinda, she has a feel of brilliant yet playful. Nice piece!
Belinda, fun, exotic and wonderful as usual! - wendy
This does have a playful side but I think it also has a mythological quality. Is it three different women, or one woman with a favorite new eyebrow pencil?
is this one going on ebay? or perhaps i already missed it :( it is absolutely stunning!!! create on.....
I went to check if it was on ebay as well. I love it! Really gorgeous!
Women of the Wood -- how perfect they are! This is wonderful!
Women of the Wood?
