Huntington Garden Cactus; Monotype & Colored Pencil

My beveled zinc plate with Daniel Smith black etching ink rolled out, and manipulated with fingers, rolled paper towel blotters, pastel stomps and pencil points.
The press was set too tight - by just a hair - and I lost all my halftones on the print. Too much ink transferred to the paper with all that pressure. Drats. The hazards of fatigue in the print lab. Plan B: Colored pencil Search & Rescue. It's like drawing with pastels on a chalk board, and it's great fun. (C'mon, try it.)

Wonderful piece. and wonderful peace. I like the way you left room for the viewer by putting the figure all the way to he right. A very restful painting. It needs a very soothing name.

I love this one, I like the rest of your work too, very cool. I just did a few monoprints, I used black oil paints and I made quite the mess, fun though. Is the ink you are using water or oil based? I was thinking of trying to bring some sort of composition out of mine, not sure if they have hope or not. :D Lori

This one just might be my favorite monotype, even though you say it's overinked. Now I know cactus is a good monotype subject, isn't it?

Great rescue! I think I like the colored pencil over the ink better than watercolor! This is a fantastic piece.
