My cousin sang the lead in Casa Italiana's production of Verdi's La Traviata. She asked me to paint something for the show catalog, and I imagined the letter Violetta leaves for Alfred in the farmhouse, after his father visits and entreats her to leave his son, and restore his family's reputation.
